JOSET OF NAZARETH’S BLUES

There is nothing I’ve ever done
I didn’t learn to be ashamed of.
No hope and no dream I won’t curse or demean.
If that’s what it takes, that’s what I’ll do.
If that’s what it takes, I will.
And I hope I never get my fill
pushing a boulder up on a hill.
When we get to the top, we’ll be taking a spill.
Every time’s like the first time.
Every time is the same.
And you don’t believe me now
But you will.
Now until you hang upon such a cross,
you won’t know a thing about laughter or loss
Because from Galilee to Gethsemane
to Golgotha is a short, short walk.
